Recruiting or Hustling

Hello everyone in the SL Porn land. A Happy New Year 2013 to everyone!!

It has been awhile since I actually contributed towards the SL Porn Blog, mainly because of limited time in SecondLife™ with a hectic real life. But I'm trying to contribute more often to the SL Porn blog with different kinds of articles of interests. My first post of the new year 2013, I wanted to do an article after I have seen something happening while I was attending the Wednesday's Humpday Party yesterday ( 2nd January 2013 ) at the Pornstars Nightclub.

Recruiting
The Pornstar parties are meant for anyone that wants to meet and get to know people that are active in the SL Porn, Photographers, Directors, other Actors and Actresses. So I have nothing against the recruiting at Pornstar parties. That is what they are meant for. But we as Pornstars have to be cautious when someone sends a message when they tell you they are recruiting, "If it sounds to good to be true it probably is". Specially if they can't show you their work on a blog or a flickr account. There are people that try to recruit newcomers in SL Porn with promises they can't keep, and it would be just a trophy to them when they had sex with a Pornstar. Don't fall for this trick and always ask them if they can show their works in photoshoots or previously released movies on either SL Porntube or Naughty Machinima.

Hustling
Hustling for girls is not what a Pornstar party is meant for. The need to get as many girls as possible is a sign that we as Pornstars have to be cautious about because there are alot of men that prey on desperate girls that want to make it in SL Porn. I say desperate in the means of, everyone wants to be in photoshoots or movies and we all know not everyone makes it that far. Simply put, because there are not enough Directors that can give hundreds of girls a movie role and making them shine in the spotlights as a Pornstar in SL. Again, for this the following: "If it sounds to good to be true it probably is", makes more sense because there is a bigger chance false promises are being made, and it ends up that you were just a trophy to them.

My Advice To Newcomers In SL Porn
My advice to any newcomer in SL Porn is to do always your own research and homework when someone contacts you at parties (or when someone asks in groupchat). To my view I think many forget about this part. Check or ask if they can show you their works so far, either on a blog or on a flickr account, if they have movies posted on either SL Porntube or Naughty Machinima. If they don't have any of this then don't fall for the old trick in the book when they promise you things and they most likely can't even keep towards their own promises. I have been in SL porn for almost a year, and I have seen it. And I am pretty much sure others that have been much longer in SL Porn, have seen much more of it too. "They will tell you anything to give you hopes but a lot is just empty promises!"

In short: Many girls feel the pressure competition to be a star, and under that pressure have sex with a Photographer or a Director to get ahead of or even equal to the other girls. The hustlers prey on this and that is one reason they recruit. I am not saying everyone is like this, only just be cautious when someone contacts you by IM or in a Pornstar groupchat.


A little review of what I saw at the Humpday Party
About halfway through the Humpday Party at around 2PM SLT, I noticed a particular group tag that I won't mention publicly on the blog. The owner of that particular SL company was just standing outside of the dancefloor, Recruiting or Hustling is what I will not post publicly either, I made this decision already for myself. Within a few minutes this tag was handed out to atleast half a dozen other girls that were attending this party dancing on the dancefloor. And they all went to surround this owner, as if it was asked of them to do so. It is not what most will do when they are recruiting newcomers so to me it gave a strange impression because I was asking myself if it was really needed to have a dozen of girls surrounding someone. Next to the fact that I can't imagine they all will get what has been promised, if so many pornstars don't get the chance to shine in the spotlights and are waiting desperatly for months and months, then how would this be any different.

Yes, deffinatly something to think about!
